Ladies and gentlemen,
I apologize for the delay in providing an update. The vote on the CBA did not pass. Unfortunately, we received only 31 total votes, so participation remains a significant concern.
At this point, I have been waiting for the City to clarify next steps. Internally, I’ve asked the negotiations team to connect with their respective workgroups to gather specific feedback on the proposed CBA. My hope is that each of you has been contacted and given an opportunity to share your concerns. I’ve set a deadline of May 8 for that feedback to be compiled and returned.
I have a meeting scheduled with the City in the coming weeks to discuss the issues identified. I want to set realistic expectations: while the failed vote may provide a small amount of leverage, the City still maintains the stronger position. The most likely next step is mediation. For context, the Commissioned group requested mediation at the end of March and was not scheduled until the first week of June, so this process will take time.
Again, I apologize for the delay in communication, though many of you likely had a sense of the outcome following the Guild meeting on April 14.
Please feel free to reach out to me directly with any concerns or frustrations.
Thank you kindly!
